$500 Administration Fee for Ineligible Checkrides

To respect everyone’s time and help keep checkride slots available amid high demand, a $500 administration fee will now apply if the practical test cannot proceed due to the applicant not meeting FAA eligibility requirements under 14 CFR Part 61 (e.g., incomplete/incorrect endorsements, insufficient aeronautical experience, IACRA errors, missing knowledge test remediation, or aircraft not airworthy).

Key Responsibilities:

It is the applicant's and recommending instructor's responsibility to thoroughly review all requirements line-by-line per the relevant Airman Certification Standards (ACS), 14 CFR regulations, and Advisory Circulars (e.g., AC 61-65). This includes verifying endorsements, logged experience, and application accuracy.
The applicant must confirm the aircraft meets airworthiness standards (current inspections, required documents onboard, no unaddressed inoperative equipment per §91.205 and maintenance logs).
I dedicate significant time to blocking my schedule and provide detailed preparation resources on my website to support successful outcomes. Despite this, approximately 20% of scheduled applicants still arrive unable to start due to preventable paperwork or eligibility issues—often resulting in wasted time for all involved.
Nationally, recent FAA data shows thousands of practical tests annually are discontinued or unable to begin for similar reasons (e.g., over 8,000–12,000 "failure to qualify" cases in recent reporting years due to endorsements, experience shortfalls, or aircraft discrepancies). These preventable issues contribute to longer wait times industry-wide.

Scheduling Policy

Currently I am only scheduling checkrides if you are already 100% signed off by your instructor, and ready to go. This must include a fully completed 8710 that is signed off by your instructor.

CHECKRIDE APPLICATIONS/PAPERWORK HAS TO BE PERFECT WHEN YOU SUBMIT IT. (Triple check it) If we run into any issues, we may not be able to start the exam.
